Functional type: Spearer

Range: French Polynesia to New Caledonia and Cocos-Keeling Islands

Habitat: Coral reefs in rubble and live coral

Depth: Low intertidal to at least 10 m

Home: Cavities and crevices in rubble and coral

Diet: Unknown; probably small fish and crustaceans

Size: 20–100 mm

Color: Body reticulated brown and cream pattern with some green on telson; pair of iridescent blue spots on carapace each surrounded by a solid cream ring

Distinguishing Characters: Large eyes broader than stalk; rostral plate ovoid with small anterior spine; pair of blue eyespots on carapace surrounded by light rings. There are five species of Raoulserenea all of which have eyespots on the carapace

Activity: Unknown. Appears to be diurnal in the laboratory

Temperature: 22–28° C

Salinity: 33–35 PSU

Cohabitants: Unknown

Aquarium size (adult): 40 l

Aquarium substrate: Sand or gravel with coral rubble and live rock

Suitability for Aquarium: Good; brightly colored and active

Availability: Very rare
