My driving research question is how does environmental change impact evolutionary trends and ecological structure? I am currently studying these trends in mollusks that lived in an ancient continental sea that was in the Central Valley of California from the Miocene to the Pleistocene. I aim to understand how shifts in salinity, temperature, sea level, and other environmental factors influence extinction risk, trophic structure, and diversity in the seaway.
