A Blueprint for an Evolution Education Workshop

What is the blueprint?

During July, 2001, a group of scientists and educators met under the auspices of the University of California Museum of Paleontology (UCMP) and the National Center for Science Education (NCSE) to draw up a "blueprint" that could be used by scientists to develop evolution education workshops for teachers in conjunction with their annual association meetings, or by museums as they develop their teacher outreach programs on evolution.

Having had considerable experience providing workshops of this kind at professional meetings and in other settings, we felt that sharing our experiences might provide inspiration for our colleagues who also want to share their knowledge of evolution with colleagues at the precollege level. For practical reasons, we focus on science education at the middle and high school levels.
