This is a fossil of a helicoplacoid. It lived 560 to 540 million years ago and, believe it or not, is related to seastars and sea urchins.

These creatures are eurypterids. They cruised the oceans between 490 and 245 million years ago. Also called sea scorpions, they are related to modern scorpions, lobsters, and insects.

Dinosaurs, in all shapes and sizes, are one of the more popular groups of extinct organisms. Dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago.
