You are right!
The finches with larger bodies and larger bills survived better because they were able
to eat the larger seeds. With more food available, they had a better chance of surviving
and breeding. Over time, the new generations of Geospiza fortis became larger and had
larger bills.
Scientists continue to see bill size and shape change within finch populations when the
vegetation changes. That's evolution in action!
