Assessment Materials

The assessment materials can be viewed using the links below. Once the documents are open, they can be printed by first clicking on the page, then choosing File from the menu bar and selecting Print.

Focus Questions

The Focus Questions relate to concepts covered in the tour. They can be printed out and used by students in a variety of ways:

to keep students on task as they proceed through the the tour;
to give written feedback on what they've learned;
or for class discussions.

For Level One (Grades 5-8), the questions are titled "Scavenger Hunt", as this is often a more engaging tactic at that grade level. At Level Two, they are simply titled "Focus Questions." Use the links below to access tests and keys at the appropriate level.

Pre/Post Tests

The Pre-Test and Post-Test assess the student's knowledge and comprehension of material both before and after using the module. These tests assess what students have learned from the material presented. (Pre/Post Test Key)

Review Activities

What Does it Take to Get into the Fossil Record? can be used as a review activity for practicing the concepts learned from the tour. It is best suited for students of grades 5-8.
