Moved

Once fossils are formed, there are several different ways that they can be moved. For example, they can be washed away by streams, moved by glaciers, carried by scavengers, or caught in rock slides.

Plate tectonics is also responsible for moving fossils. Plate tectonics can cause fossils that were once part of the ocean floor to be found at the top of a mountain. This is called uplift.
