Achistrum is a type of echinoderm, a holothurian or sea cucumber to be exact. Related to starfish and sand dollars, sea cucumbers are common in today’s oceans. This fossil comes from the Pennsylvanian deposits of Mazon Creek, Illinois. Read more about sea cucumbers and their relatives here.
